Working professional PG: packing checklist
Moving for a first job brings less free time and more paperwork. You need office-ready clothes and a plan for ironing them, a quiet corner for calls, and documents for both your employer and your landlord. Ask about power backup and Wi-Fi before you sign, especially if you will work from the room.
Ask before you pack
Send these questions to the hostel office, warden or PG owner. The answers decide half of the list below.
- Is there a table and chair in the room for laptop work?
- How reliable is the Wi-Fi, and is there power backup during cuts?
- Is there a laundry and ironing service, and what does it cost?
- Are meals included, and do the timings fit your office hours?
- What does the rent cover, and is electricity billed separately?
- What are the deposit, the notice period and the refund terms? Will you get rent receipts every month?
- Does the owner need documents for tenant or police verification?
- Are there rules on entry times, visitors or late returns from night shifts?
